What is Cool Season Turf? Raleigh Landscaping and Raleigh Aeration

Cool season turf grasses include: Tall Fescue, Creeping Bentgrass, Kentucky Bluegrass (aka K-31), and Ryegrass (Perennial and Annual).  When it comes to cool season grasses, they often need a little more attention in terms of maintenance here in the Transition zone. As in the Raleigh area, we can grow all kinds of turf, just not any one type perfectly. Weather you choose warm-season turf or cool-season turf, make sure you fit the proper specifications to fit your needs, budget, and application. For the cool-season grasses, aeration is a must in the fall to rejuvenate the lawn. Often only residential home lawns are seeded with Kentucky Bluegrass (K-31) or Tall Fescue or maybe even a blend of both, using a transition zone blend to reduce disease pressure. Once these lawns are established, our yearly fertilization programs are a tried and true way to keep your lawn as healthy as possible throughout the year. See our 6 step fertilization program for more details- http://capitalcitygroundskeeping.com/portfolio-view/6-step-fertilizing-program/.  If you have any questions about establishing a lawn or choosing the best type of grass, please call (919)604-3611 to speak to a Certified Turfgrass Professional.
